Abstract Funding Acknowledgements Type of funding sources: None. Background A very high-power short-duration (vHPSD) strategy radiofrequency (RF) ablation aims to minimize conductive heating and increase resistive heating. Purpose The aim our study is evaluate the feasibility, efficacy safety vHPSD for pulmonary vein (PV) isolation in patients presenting with paroxysmal or persistent atrial fibrillation (AF). Methods This prospective non-randomized enrolled consecutive AF undergoing PV isolation. was performed QDOT catheter, applying 90 W, 4 s, an irrigation 8 ml/min. RF delivered targeting interlesion distance ≤ 6 mm. PVI assessed at end encirclement Pentaray catheter by entrance block remapping. Results Overall 163 (29 AF) were enrolled. mean age 61±8 years, 60% had hypertension 10% diabetes mellitus. obtained all first-pass 144 (88%) a number 83±15 pulses. procedural time 85±26 min, fluoroscopy 9±6 min 5,5±1 min. In 5 (3%) access-related vascular complications occurred. follow-up (fu) 8±3 months (fu³6 109 patients; fu³12 15 patients) freedom from recurrence 97% overall population subgroups as well (Figure 1). Conclusions represents effective safe achieve patients.

Efficacy and safety of circumferential pulmonary vein isolation using a novel cryothermal balloon ablation system.

OBJECTIVES We sought to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a novel cryothermal balloon ablation system in creating pulmonary vein (PV) isolation. BACKGROUND Pulmonary vein isolation using standard radiofrequency ablation techniques is limited by procedure-related complications, such as thrombus formation and PV stenosis. Cryothermal ablation may reduce the risk of such complications. METHO...

Pulmonary vein isolation using an occluding cryoballoon for circumferential ablation: feasibility, complications, and short-term outcome.

AIMS To assess safety, feasibility and short term outcome of pulmonary vein (PV) isolation in paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF) with a cryoballoon. METHODS We consecutively treated 57 patients with a double lumen 23 or 28 mm cryoballoon. The acute results, complications and follow-up over the first three months were analysed, using a comprehensive and intensive follow-up period. RESULTS D...

Percutaneous pulmonary vein isolation for atrial fibrillation ablation.

Pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) is the standard catheter ablation procedure for patients with recurrent, symptomatic, drug-refractory paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF). Hyperlinked to this article is a video that shows a PVI procedure performed at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, MA, with the use of image guidance from a cardiac magnetic resonance image obtained the day before the procedu...

Prevalence, characteristics, and predictors of pulmonary vein narrowing after isolation using the pulmonary vein ablation catheter.

BACKGROUND The risk of pulmonary vein narrowing (PVN) after pulmonary vein isolation, using a novel multi-electrode ablation catheter, is unknown. METHODS AND RESULTS Left atrial volume and PV diameters were compared by computed tomography (CT) before and 3 months after pulmonary vein isolation using duty-cycled phased radio frequency energy (2:1 or 4:1 bipolar/unipolar ratio) in 50 patients....

The influence of varying energy settings on efficacy and safety of endoscopic pulmonary vein isolation.

BACKGROUND The optimal energy setting for endoscopic pulmonary vein (PV) isolation (PVI) has not yet been determined. OBJECTIVE To assess the influence of varying energy settings on the efficacy and safety of endoscopic PVI. METHODS In the current prospective study, 30 patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation were consented for PVI using the endoscopic ablation system. Ablation was perf...
